Cornerstone Christian Academy

Lunch Menus

Cornerstone Christian Academy is proud to announce that SAGE Dining Services, Inc.® will be managing our dining program beginning in the fall. SAGE is the nation’s leading provider of gourmet dining services for independent schools. Based in Maryland, SAGE serves over 180 schools across the United States.

The foundation of SAGE’s program is real food: cooked from scratch, on site, using locally sourced ingredients. SAGE’s seasonal menus will be custom-designed for us, reflecting our students’ preferences as well as the fresh product available in the region. SAGE’s registered dietitians review and approve each menu to ensure it offers a wide variety of nutritious choices.

SAGE’s talented chefs produce meals the old-fashioned way – from scratch. SAGE believes that freshly made food tastes better, retains more nutrients and is safer for the environment. All SAGE food is free of trans fats and MSG.

Here are some of the foods our students will enjoy each day:

  • Freshly prepared soups and entrees;
  • An extensive salad bar, featuring a wide variety of fresh vegetables and toppings, as well as an array of house-made dressings;
  • House-roasted and hand-sliced deli meats, as well as a variety of locally baked breads;
  • At least two fresh vegetables, as well as fresh-cut fruit;
  • A variety of beverages, including hormone-free and antibiotic-free milk; freshly made Spa Water (flavored with fresh-cut fruits and vegetables); lemonade and juices.

To guide our students’ dining selections, SAGE’s Spotlight Program® assigns a Spotlight color to each item on the menu. Green is for highly nutritious foods that should be enjoyed often: fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and dairy products. Most foods we consume have yellow dots; these are good choices, especially when paired with green dot items. Red dots are reserved for items we should enjoy sparingly because they contain higher levels of fat, salt or added sugar.

SAGE understands the importance of accommodating diners with food allergies and other dietary restrictions. As partners in our children’s health and nutrition, we encourage parents and students to work with SAGE’s Food Service Director to discuss menus and learn about making wise choices.

Our dining hall will also include an educational focus through SAGE’s Educational Seasonings® program. Students will be encouraged to learn about – and taste – foods and flavors from around the world. In the coming school year, students will learn about Thanksgiving in the Wild West, Southern African Cuisine, Soups and Stews, Fair Trade Foods, Eating Locally, Making Salad Dressings, the World of Tea and the Culinary Trades.

You may opt to send your child a lunch from home.  Please note we are a peanut free campus.  Absolutely NO peanut products allowed.
