Eric Nicholie, Head of School
Appointed as Head of School in 2017, Mr. Eric Nicholie brings 29 years of educational leadership and is the fourth Head of School at Cornerstone Christian Academy. He has led the CCA community in advancing curriculum, integrating 21st-century instructional technology, fostering collaborative teaching, and building a positive, interactive school culture. Under his leadership, the school’s cash reserves have doubled, academic and athletic programs have expanded, and fundraising has exceeded $3.5 million over eight years.
Guided by CCA’s commitment to Kingdom Education and its three pillars—World Class Academics, Financial Stewardship, and Student Emotional and Physical Well-being—Mr. Nicholie has overseen major initiatives such as one-to-one student technology, a new STEM curriculum, the completion of the Mandel Sports Complex, and the expansion of Fine Arts with strings and worship arts. He prioritizes staff retention, maintaining an impressive 97% retention rate, and has led the school to its first dual accreditation, enhanced campus safety with full-time armed security, and implemented comprehensive emergency and wellness plans. Through it all, he remains dedicated to CCA’s mission of Skills for Life and Faith for Eternity.
Before joining CCA, Mr. Nicholie served as Principal at George Junior High School in Lamar CISD, where he was named Principal of the Year. He has also held roles as an elementary principal, assistant principal, and teacher, and has successfully opened new campuses. He is actively involved with the National Christian School Association, Texas Private School Association, and Cognia Accreditation Team, and has completed the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Leadership Forum.
An outdoor enthusiast, Eric enjoys spending time with his family, running, hiking, water skiing, and riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. Known for his collaborative, servant-hearted leadership, he firmly believes every child has a God-given purpose to impact the world for Christ.
Joshua Gettys, Head of Middle and Upper School
Joshua Gettys brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership to Cornerstone Christian Academy. As the Head of Middle and Upper School, he is recognized for his strategic vision and commitment to cultivating a relational, transparent, and growth-oriented culture. With a background in leading academic programming and organizational advancement, Mr. Gettys is committed to enhancing community engagement and spiritual growth among students and staff. He holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Indiana University Bloomington and a Master of Education in Counseling and Development from Winthrop University. His efforts have consistently yielded increased enrollment and strong academic performance, resulting in numerous National Merit Scholars.
Gracie Stelly, Head of Lower School
With over 30 years in education, Mrs. Gracie Stelly brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to Cornerstone Christian Academy. Her career spans from classroom teaching to educational administration, with an emphasis on curriculum development and teacher training. Her dedication to fostering strong relationships with families and creating an engaging learning environment is evident in her impactful leadership. She is also an accomplished marathon runner and a proud grandmother.
Rhonda Jessup, Preschool Director
Mrs. Rhonda Jessup, a cherished member of the Cornerstone family, has dedicated 13 years to nurturing young minds as a lead teacher in the PreK-4 program. As Preschool Director, her joyful spirit and commitment to Christ-centered education guide her leadership. She collaborates with teachers and families to ensure a strong foundation for our preschoolers. A devoted runner, Mrs. Jessup has completed over 50 marathons, including the Boston Marathon.
Corey Waters, Head of Campus Ministry and Student Life
Since joining Cornerstone Christian Academy in 2011, Mr. Corey Waters has enriched our community through his versatile roles and commitment to ministry. His journey from a career in culinary arts to a life dedicated to ministry reflects his deep faith and passion for education. As the Head of Campus Ministry and Student Life, Mr. Waters is dedicated to creating a Christ-centered environment that fosters students' growth and development. He and his wife, Kasie, are proud parents of five children.
