Upper School

As part of Cornerstone’s Spiritual Life Program, students and faculty attend chapel daily. Through worship, a variety of Christian speakers, and small groups, students are taught about a personal relationship with Christ, discipled to grow in their faith, and equipped to articulate and live out Biblical truths in every area of their lives. 

Cornerstone is committed to low class sizes and providing a classroom environment where students feel safe and actively participate in the learning process. Students are known, loved, and taught by exceptional Christian faculty in all subject areas. 

Cornerstone believes that a strong student-teacher relationship is critical to each child's success. At every grade level, faculty and staff encourage, nurture, and challenge students, helping them reach their God-given potential in all aspects of their lives. 

Cornerstone partners with families to ensure every student's social and emotional well-being, offering counseling services through a Biblical worldview. Staff are available to provide every child with spiritual, academic, social, and emotional support. Cornerstone also offers an extensive college guidance program that assists students and families through the college planning process beginning in the ninth grade. Students and families work closely with counselors and school leadership to develop academic course plans, discuss interests and career options, explore colleges and universities, meet with admission representatives, complete the college application process, and choose their school for higher education after graduating from Cornerstone.  

Every upper school student receives an Apple MacBook as part of their tuition. This 1:1 device program enables a comprehensive and balanced curriculum integrating online learning resources with traditional textbooks. Students can receive technological support from the Office of Technology Staff throughout their time at Cornerstone.   

Cornerstone is a nationally certified STEM school. As such, STEM concepts, such as problem-solving, creative and critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and perseverance, are integrated across the curriculum in all content areas. Students also have an incredible opportunity to complete four-year Engineering and Computer Science course plans through Project Lead the Way.  

An emphasis at Cornerstone is to prepare students to be servant leaders and ambassadors for Christ. Students can engage in many leadership activities on campus, including a peer mentorship program, chapel planning and facilitation, academic honor societies and clubs, athletics and fine arts, service trips, and Cornerstone’s house system. Students are encouraged to lead by putting the needs of others first and emulating the character of Christ by exhibiting love, compassion, integrity, and a servant’s heart.  

Each year, students participate in a retreat at the beginning of the school year. This Cornerstone tradition is filled with worship, community-building, connection, and lots of fun! 

At Cornerstone, students are given opportunities to serve as the hands and feet of Christ in our city, state, and nation. Led by school leadership and staff, every grade level participates in service-learning trips, where students apply the concept of servant leadership and share the Gospel and love of God with people in need.
